Good morning Mishmash:
If we can all be irresponsible and create a non-free society, we can sure as hell be a little more responsible and create a free society, world wide. The opposite must be true.
The commandment…
And God said: “regulate thyself”. A statement as dry as this becomes much more flavorful when expanded and thought about in connection to every other thing in life. Another dry one: property rights. Rights become less dry and more interesting when you couple the idea to personal freedom or motion, business, conduct, culture, and fun times generally.
Your property is something you exclusively enjoy, and something you rent, or charge a fee for others to enjoy for a limited time. If that exclusive enjoyment is violated, taken from you, it is called theft, or by the fancy legal term: involuntary conversion. Your right was converted without your agreement, involuntarily, for the exclusive benefit of another. How do you like that?
By giving up some responsibility to government establishments- they are only established by the sovereign People- we cause ourselves to be more dependent; less intelligent (government says they can do our thinking for us). DO NOT think sir! It’s up to you. So today it is appropriate to say “regulate thyself”. The first one was “love your neighbor as thyself”. It helps to remind ourselves of this rule from time to time.
How…
We give up our sovereign responsibility little by little. It happens usually via some innocent suggestion in a time of crisis be it staged, or real. Like, let us regulate your milk products because the farmers are “oh so bad” and they can, you know, kill ya. Because you know, people, have died! Stop it.
Where are we now…
We are sure as hell regulated to oblivion. Sad. However, this gives all of us a chance to learn. Personally, I enjoy being independent. We of course are regulated by culture; this type of regulation is best within the long standing law of nature., natural law. This is why I say “regulate thyself”. Within a cultural context, if some milk ever turned out bad, the town pressure would cut out that product right away. It causes producer to (a) ignore you (b) fix the product (c) be ostracized or expelled from business by the eventual boycott.
If you say global trade is hard to regulate, I say, you must go and think this one over. Going back to the milk example. Say some bad milk was delivered from Argentina to the Whole Foods in Santa Clara California. You simply talk to the manager and raise a concern, emergency escalation. WF would likely stop the product, and if they do a repeat, you organize locally with your friends, family, and associates to escalate the issue. The problem is that we do not do this, and depend on the vast network of regulators fix everything.
UK pushing digital ID:
When I say “regulate thyself”, I mean: participation; do not be passive; be aggressive. After all, it is your health and the health of those close to you? Moreover, I am simply concerned about my independence. I know if I do not assert my independence, soon we will all end up in a non-free society. Your passive attitude scares the hell out of me simply because I know I will almost certainly have to pick up the slack, some one has to, and it is usually the producer, innovator, laborer.
If we can all be irresponsible and create a non-free society, we can chose to be responsible and create a free society, world wide.
